Tax department launches portal connected with e-commerce platforms

HCMC – The General Department of Taxation has launched an e-Portal connected with domestic e-commerce platforms, which will receive data of business organizations and individuals via e-commerce platforms.

Launching an e-commerce information portal aims to ease bureaucratic tax procedures and save costs for enterprises. The portal will receive a declaration from e-commerce platforms in case these platforms make a tax payment on behalf of a business or individual making an online transaction.

On the other hand, the portal also records information about business organizations and individuals via e-commerce platforms if these platforms fail to submit a declaration on behalf of them.

Earlier, the General Department of Taxation activated an e-Portal for foreign suppliers. Till now, some 42 foreign suppliers worldwide, such as Meta (Facebook), Google, Microsoft and eBay, have registered, declared and paid taxes directly through the e-Portal with an amount of VND3,444 billion.

In 2022, the tax sector cut 70 bureaucratic procedures from 304 to 234, or a 23% reduction of administrative procedures. The tax sector has also integrated its online public services with the National Public Services Portal, creating favorable conditions and saving time and costs for residents and enterprises in implementing tax transactions.
