Precision medicine will be the future of global health

Scientists at the seminar

NDO – International scientists believe that in the future, global health will need to further develop disease prediction instead of just basic healthcare, and technology will open the door to optimal solutions for a healthier future for all.

Those are the ideas discussed at a seminar on the future of global health held in Hanoi on January 19 as part of the VinFuture Sci-Tech Week.

Scientists at the seminar also gave examples and solutions to develop precision medicine, emphasising that such medicine in public health is extremely important and requires scientific advances in both diagnosis and treatment.

In his speech, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan expressed his belief that science - technology will be a useful “weapon” in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and improving human health in the coming time.

Participants also discussed challenges caused by the pandemic, population ageing, urbanisation, environmental pollution, and work-related stress to people’s quality of life and longevity, global health trends, and each individual’s role in disease prevention and control.

The first VinFuture Sci-Tech Week, which is taking place from January 18 to 21, has gathered thousands of scientists, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from around the globe.
