COVID-19 Vaccine Fund receives donations of VND3.5 trillion
NDO – The COVID-19 Vaccine Fund has received donations and registered aid worth total over VND3.510 trillion
NDO – Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, on behalf of the Vietnamese community abroad, handed over more than VND3 billion (US$131,700) to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) on October 8 to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the COVID-19 vaccine fund.
President of the VFFCC Do Van Chien received the money, which was the donated by overseas Vietnamese and enterprises in China, Russia, the UK, Israel, Japan, Switzerland, Mozambique, Egypt, New Zealand, Ukraine and Cambodia.
Minister Bui Thanh Son sent his sincere thanks to the overseas Vietnamese community, saying that despite effects of the pandemic, overseas Vietnamese still maintain the tradition of solidarity and ‘good leaves cover torn leaves’ to support the homeland.
On the occasion, Minister Bui Thanh Son also thanked the VFFCC for the timely and practical support it has provided for overseas Vietnamese in recent years.
The minister requested that the VFFCC quickly transfer the financial support to localities in Vietnam, including Ha Tien City in Kien Giang Province where many F0 cases have been recorded in recent days amid limited resources for pandemic prevention and control.
On the morning of October 8, Vice President and General Secretary of the VFFCC Le Tien Chau also received VND300 million (US$13,100) from Daikin Company to support the COVID-19 vaccine fund.
The overseas Vietnamese community has so far donated about VND29 billion (US$1.2 million) through the VFFCC and the COVID-19 vaccine fund to assist Vietnam with the fight against the pandemic.
