Vietnam's Covid-19 case number grows by 94

HCMC – The Ministry of Health reported 94 fresh Covid-19 cases this morning, June 30, including one imported case who was quarantined upon her arrival in Vietnam and 93 domestic infections.

Among the new locally-infected cases, 87 were found in quarantine centers or areas under lockdown.

Specifically, HCMC accounted for the most, at 62 cases, raising the city’s tally to 3,563 cases in the current coronavirus wave which began on April 27. Phu Yen reported 21 cases, Nghe An confirmed four, while Bac Giang and Binh Dinh had three cases each.

Accordingly, the number of locally-infected cases in the current wave has reached 13,147 in 50 provinces and cities, with the central province of Binh Dinh being the latest virus-hit locality.

Last night, the authorities in Long An Province decided to suspend the operation of the Long An General Hospital in Tan An City in 72 hours starting from 9 p.m. in the day to perform a Covid-19 test for all medical workers, patients and caregivers at the hospital. The move came after three infections were detected during a screening Covid-19 test at the hospital, including one janitor, one patient, and one caregiver.

Earlier, on June 25, Long An also discovered a male doctor who worked at the Covid-19 Field Hospital No.1 in Tan An City was infected with Covid-19, resulting in all medical workers and employees at the field hospital undergoing a screening Covid-19 test. Up to now, their test results have come out negative twice.
