HCMC – HCMC had inoculated 438,502 people as of June 24, as part of the city’s largest-ever Covid-19 vaccination drive, in which 836,000 doses would be administered to local residents from June 19 to 26.

The city’s departments of Health and Information-Communications this morning, June 25, co-chaired a press briefing on the progress of the vaccination drive.

The city set up 946 vaccination sites per day at local hospitals, medical centers, medical stations and public places, with 200 people expected to be vaccinated at each site per day.

Speaking at the meeting, Nguyen Tan Binh, director of the HCMC Department of Health, said that 877 people were inoculated on June 19. By June 20, the number of vaccinated residents reached 5,740.

Binh admitted that the coordination among the authorities, agencies and vaccination sites during the first days was poor. Right after that, the city’s government made adjustments to ensure a smoother operation.

The Ministry of Health demanded HCMC inoculate 100,000 people per day and sent 200 doctors to the city to assist with the vaccination campaign. The city then set up 290 more vaccination teams and assigned 12 more people at each vaccination site to serve the security and information management purposes, with four more volunteers at each site to support other relevant works.

As a result, 95,000 people were vaccinated on June 22, 122,280 people were given the vaccine on June 23 and 172,930 others were inoculated on June 24.

With the vaccination speed, the drive is expected to wrap up tomorrow, Binh said.

He added that 1,109 vaccinated people in the city have experienced unexpected post-vaccination reactions up to now.
