"Amazing!" was repeatedly heard from most members of the diplomatic corps of countries in the Czech Republic when visiting SAPA Trade Center - the largest commercial area of ​​the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, on June 22.

The visit was organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in the Czech Republic in collaboration with SAPA Trade Center and the Diplomatic Spouses' Association in Prague (DSA), to help international friends access the culture, people and traditions of hospitality of Vietnam.

This is the first diplomatic reception activity of DSA after a long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the Czech Republic.

Attending the event were Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung, Japanese Ambassador Hideo Suzuki and Iraqi Ambassador Sundus Albayraqdar, Hoang Dinh Thang - President of the Union of Vietnamese in Europe, Giang Thanh - Vice President of the Vietnamese Association in the Czech Republic.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Thien Nga, the wife of Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic, said that the purpose of organizing a visit for DSA members to the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is for international friends to understand more about the country, people of Vietnam.

Also through this event, the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic also better understand the activities of the DSA, thereby supporting the Embassy to do well in its advocacy work in diplomatic activities in the Czech Republic.

Ahmed Zahra - DSA President and wife of Pakistani Ambassador to the Czech Republic, said: "This is a very impressive event for DSA members, especially when they have access to understand more about the country, its people and the cultural diversity of Vietnam. Through this event, we realize that the Vietnamese community is very friendly and active. DSA hopes that after the Covid-19 pandemic is over, we will organize cultural events and welcome the active participation of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic as well as the contribution of the Vietnamese community in the host country."

Sharing the same view, Japanese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Hideo Suzuki said: "I also realize that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic is very strong and dynamic. I am very impressed with the cultural characteristics of the Vietnamese here. Vietnam is a culturally diverse country. Vietnam and Japan have a good traditional relationship, are good partners in trade and investment. The two countries are also cooperating in many fields. Hope this relationship will continue to be promoted and successful in the future."

The visit has left a friendly and hospitable image of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, along with the process of deep integration into the host society, which is being highly appreciated.

Iraqi Ambassador to the Czech Republic Sundus Albayraqdar said: "My impression is that there are many surprises when visiting SAPA Trade Center of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic. Vietnamese cuisine is also very special and attractive."


DSA was established in 1997 and has about 50 member countries in the diplomatic corps in the Czech Republic, organized under the auspices of the wife of the President of the Czech Republic, Ivana Zemanova.

The DSA promotes cross-cultural understanding and dialogue between members from different countries as well as with the Czech people.

DSA also mobilizes funds to regularly have activities to support charities and the less fortunate in society in the Czech Republic.
