Vietnam confirms 68 new Covid-19 infections

HCMC – Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally exceeded 10,000 cases with 68 fresh infections being confirmed this morning, June 12, mainly in Bac Giang Province and HCMC, said the Ministry of Health.

All of the new patients are locally-infected cases, with 64 of them being detected in quarantine centers or areas under lockdown.

The country’s biggest coronavirus hotspot of Bac Giang reported 29 cases linked to industrial zones. In HCMC, eight out of its 20 new cases were related to the Revival Ekklesia Mission infection cluster.

Tien Giang Province accounted for 10 cases. Bac Ninh Province confirmed eight cases and Lang Son Province had one case.

Up to now, the fourth coronavirus wave which began on April 27 in the country has seen 6,848 domestic infections in 39 provinces and cities. Also, the nation’s tally reached 10,048 cases, including 3,804 recoveries and 57 fatalities.

In related news, as the Covid-19 pandemic in Khanh Hoa Province has been gradually brought under control, the provincial government yesterday afternoon issued a dispatch allowing indoor and outdoor sports activities to reopen starting on June 13, but they have to comply with Covid-19 preventive measures, reported Tuoi Tre newspaper.

Also, religious rites are allowed to resume while religious festivals remain suspended. Eateries, street food stalls have to practice social distancing while offering their services.

As for beach activities, the authorities ordered the suspension of parking lots in seaside parks along Tran Phu and Pham Van Dong streets, banned vehicles from entering parks or parking in seaside parks until further notice.

Local residents can go sea-bathing but have to avoid large gatherings.

The province from today will stop the operation of three Covid-19 checkpoints at these locations: the National Highway 1A section passing through Van Tho Commune, Van Ninh District; the National Highway 16 section running across Ninh Commune, Ninh Hoa Town; and the National Highway 27C section passing through Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh District.
