HCMC – Nguyen Van Thanh, who was recently confirmed to be infected with Covid-19, has been temporarily suspended from his posts as secretary of the Party Committee and director of the Hanoi Construction Investment Company No.2 (Hacinco) for flouting Covid-19 prevention and control regulations.
The Hanoi Housing Development and Investment Corporation (Handico), which is the parent company of Hacinco, has sent a report regarding this issue to the government of Hanoi as requested, reported the local media.
According to the report, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control and the local media on May 12 reported that Thanh and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus.
Thanh and his wife had traveled to Danang City from April 30 to May 2, but he did not take self-quarantine measures after the central city was confirmed to be a virus hotspot. Also, after returning to Hanoi, he had a hectic work schedule in various locations until May 12.
He proved he had made health declarations while flying from Hanoi to Danang on Flight VN6087 on April 30 and on Flight VN160 on the Danang-Hanoi route on May 2. Hacinco then arranged a social distancing work schedule for its employees starting May 9.
“However, the fact that Thanh did not seriously comply with Covid-19 preventive measures, was unaware of the disease’s symptoms and did not avoid large gatherings amid the complicated Covid-19 situation could cause serious consequences in the community as well as obstacles for competent forces in dealing with the disease,” according to the report.
Based on its authority and charter, Handico’s general director asked the Hacinco board of directors to self-scrutinize and requested the standing board of the Party Committee and Members Council of Handico to consider suspending Thanh from his posts.
Handico also appointed Dinh Van Bang, director of Hacinco’s Construction Factory, to take charge of Hacinco in the upcoming period.
Earlier, chairman of the municipal government Chu Ngoc Anh on May 12 ordered the relevant agencies to verify the Covid-19-related violations of the Hacinco director.
