Dien Bien Province gifts medical supplies to six Lao northern provinces

Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Dien Bien Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control handed over medical supplies to representatives of Lao northern provinces.

Dien Bien Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control presented six Lao provinces medical supplies including 32.000 medical masks, 200 hand sanitizers and 300 sets of protective clothes, worth a total of 600 million VND (25,968 U.S. dollars).

The Covid-19 situation in six Lao provinces has developed complexly with a spike in new infections, so, the donation is not only expected to help them to soon stamp out the pandemic but it also demonstrates solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.



Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Dien Bien Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control handed over medical supplies to representatives of Lao northern provinces.

Representatives of Lao provinces extended their thanks to Dien Bien Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control for their assistance, expressing their hope that Lao northern provinces and Dien Bien would beef up collaboration in all fields.

Previously, the Vietnamese Border Guard High Command of Dien Bien Province handed over medical supplies and foodstuff worth 100 million VND (4,329 U.S. dollars) to the Military High Command and Police of Phongsaly and Luang Prabang provinces in Laos on May 10.


The Lao Health Ministry on May 11 announced that there were 35 new infections in the past 24 hours, including nine in Vientiane, five imported in Champasak and 20 in Tonpheung district of Bokeo province.

So far, the country has recorded 1,362 infections, 297 of them have recovered and one death.
