HCMC – Lam Dinh Thang, former secretary of the District 9 Party Committee, has been chosen as the director of the HCMC Department of Information and Communications.

HCMC Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong on April 2 handed the standing board of the municipal Party Committee’s decision on the appointment to Thang, the local media reported.

He led the District 9 Party Committee from April 2020. He was previously deputy secretary of the Binh Thanh Party Committee between July 2017 and April 2020.

Thang said the HCMC Department of Information and Communications plays an important role in the city’s development, especially when the city has set many development targets related to science, technology, innovation and the fourth industrial revolution.

HCMC is also the first locality in the country to launch the digital transformation program. Therefore, in the upcoming periods, the department will actively make proposals to the municipal government.

Municipal chairman Phong expressed his confidence in Thang’s professional knowledge and ability and expected officials of the department to support Thang to fulfill his duties.
