Vietnam reports 14 new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases

HCMC - The Ministry of Health confirmed 14 fresh community-transmitted Covid-19 cases in Hanoi City and Bac Ninh, Hoa Binh, Gia Lai and Hai Duong provinces this morning, January 31, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to 1,781.

Bac Ninh Province reported one new case, who is a 29-year-old woman residing in Chi Linh City, Hai Duong Province. She is the wife of the 1,565th Covid-19 patient and mother of the 1,562nd patient.

Hoa Binh Province reported its first two locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in Tan Lac District and Hoa Binh Town, related to Chi Linh City.

Two cases were reported in Ayun Pa Town in Gia Lai Province, taking the Central Highlands province’s tally to four.

All five new cases reported in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi had close contact with the 1,694th patient. The city has reported nine new cases over the past four days.

Hai Duong Province had four new Covid-19 infections in Chi Linh City, taking its tally to 179.

Up to now, Vietnam has reported 221 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in the latest outbreak since January 28. The new cases were reported in eight cities and provinces, including Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Bac Ninh, HCMC, Gia Lai and Haiphong.

The country is quarantining over 23,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or came home from Covid-19-hit countries and territories. Some 20,000 of them are at quarantine centers, 150 others at hospitals, and the remainder at home.
