NINH THUAN – Possessing unspoiled scenery and a blue sea in jade color, Hon Tai is like a “raw pearl” located in Vinh Hy Bay.

Hon Tai (also known as Hon Rua beach) is located in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan province. This is a small beach in Vinh Hy Bay, classified as a National Monument by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in April 2022, according to the website of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Located in one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam, Hon Tai possesses unspoiled beauty. With white sand, bumpy cliffs and clear blue sea that has not been exploited much in terms of tourism, Hon Tai is like a “raw pearl” of Ninh Thuan sea.

Having been shown pictures of Hon Tai by a local friend and impressed with the unspoiled landscape, travel blogger Tai Pham (28 years old) came here at the end of June.

From Saigon, Tai moves in the direction of the Phan Thiet – Vinh Hao highway to Vinh Hy, takes about 5 and a half hours. Then, he rented a canoe to Hon Tai for 200,000 VND a time (fare divided by the number of people), which took about 15 minutes.($1=24,000 VND)

Sightseeing and playing on the beach need an observer to ensure safety and rescue in case of emergency. If tourists want to scuba dive, there are instructors and diving equipment rentals, so it is quite safe and convenient, Tai said.

Setting foot on Hon Tai, Tai’s first impression is that the beach is covered with cliffs, forming a separate area. In addition to the blue sea and white sand, there is also a natural turquoise swimming pool, clear and cool water, suitable for lying and relaxing.

According to Tai, going to the beach must definitely be on a sunny day. Discovering Hon Tai around 9am is the most appropriate time, when the sun is full, not harsh, windy, the water level is not too high and the beautiful turquoise color is clearly visible. At that time, just standing in one place can take beautiful pictures, bringing the atmosphere of the sea.

Ninh Thuan is influenced by a typical tropical monsoon climate, hot and dry all year round. Around October – December is the season of rough seas, and around February – May is the most beautiful time of the sea. In the summer, there are some times when the waves are big, but they only last for about 5-10 days. Therefore, before coming here, visitors should carefully check the weather forecast, said Chau Tin, now a tourist in Hon Tai.

Hon Tai still retains its original wild features. This place is uninhabited, there is no electricity, phone signal or wifi.

The scenery of Hon Tai beach is beautifully coordinated by nature when viewed from above. The yellow-brown rapids are surrounded by turquoise sea water, with the white color of the sand. There are quite a few plants on the beach but the air is fresh, the sea and the sky is deep blue in the sun and wind of Ninh Thuan.

Here, Tai has two main experiences: bathing and scuba diving. Initially, Tai did not expect much from a small beach located near the mainland. But when he was able to see it with his own eyes, he was overwhelmed by the blueness and clarity of the sea water.

“The sea water is so beautiful that it reminds me of Gili, the sea paradise in Indonesia on my trip last year. I thought it was hard to find anywhere in Vietnam with such clear sea water, I didn’t expect to see it again. this wonderful scene again at a small beach in Vinh Hy,” Tai said.

Every trip to the sea, Tai brings swimming and diving equipment such as glasses, snorkels, propellers. If not available, visitors can also rent a diving tour for 200,000 VND.

Thanks to the rare clarity, the visibility under the sea Hon Tai can be up to 4 m. The waves are quite calm and there is no current far from the shore, and there is a staff to supervise, so it is quite safe. However, the scuba diving experience was not what Tai expected.

Hon Tai seabed has quite a lot of rocks, few coral reefs and most of them are dead coral. Fortunately, under the sunlight from above, it casts rays of light on the sea floor, he was able to admire schools of small fish swimming back and forth.

Compared to places that used to dive like Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Phu Quy, Tai feels that the seascape is not as beautiful. But for a small beach like Hon Tai, without much investment in tourism, such a trip for a few hours made him satisfied.

Visitors can spend more time on Hon Tai island to walk on the cliffs, soak in the cool, clear lake, enjoy the beach party under the temporary roof at the beach. However, this area cannot camp overnight because the water rises at high tide, the beach is far from the shore, unsafe, Chau Tin added.

Visitors can camp at inshore beaches such as Bai Thung (pictured), Bai Chuoi. “At night, the sky is full of stars and the sun rising from the sea at dawn also makes the audience feel satisfied,” Tai shared.

Accommodation and travel services are concentrated in Vinh Hy. Guests are advised to book a room in advance as it is often crowded during weekends and public holidays.

“If you need to find a clean, unspoiled beach and blue water like a distant offshore, but it doesn’t take much time to travel for fear of seasickness, then Hon Tai is the destination not to be missed,” Tai said.
