To avoid the crowds and noise at popular tourist destinations during the holiday, some tourists camp in empty places to relax and enjoy their vacation. Mr. Nguyen Anh Khoi (45 years old, Hanoi), who loves and often goes camping for over three years, suggests some places near Hanoi.

Vien Nam Peak

About 50 km from the center of Hanoi city, Vien Nam peak in Quang Tien commune, Tan Yen district, Hoa Binh is located at an altitude of more than 1,000 m above sea level, with a panoramic view of Hoa Binh city and the surrounding mountains. 
It is more relaxed here than in the city, chilly in the evening. Besides the experience of watching the sunset and sunrise, if you are lucky, you can catch a sea of clouds. The area is completely unspoiled, so there are no camping services. Visitors should actively prepare all necessary items before the trip.
The distance from the foot of the mountain to the top is about 10 km. The road is a narrow, steep slope with many rocks and luxuriant trees because few people pass by. Suitable means of transportation are motorbikes and cars with high ground clearance; the driver must be steady.

Tuy Lai Lake

45 km from the center of Hanoi, Tuy Lai Lake is located in My Duc district's Tuy Lai population of more than 26 square kilometers.This area has many lakes interspersed with limestone mountains, caves, and valleys. The rocks, islands, and mountains are silhouetted against the lake's surface, making the landscape look like a "miniature Ha Long." Coming here, visitors will be able to relax in the untouched and quiet nature. You can bring an inflatable boat to paddle across the lake to explore the mountains, islands, and caves located in the area, fish, and swim in the lake completely free of charge.
The road to Tuy Lai Lake is relatively easy with motorbikes and cars; you can go during the day or stay overnight for free. There are also no camping support services.

Red River Riverside

Along the Red River, there are many places to set up camps. Mr. Khoi suggested the location in Van Nam commune, Phuc Tho district, about 40 km from the center of Hanoi.There is a vast, flat lawn here for camping, watching the sunset and sunrise on the Red River. The scene of buffaloes and cows grazing leisurely brings the feeling of a peaceful village. In addition, visitors can fish, swim in the river, and make a campfire.
The entrance is relatively easy. As a completely natural area, there is no service here. Without the shade of trees, the afternoon can be very windy, with many mosquitoes and insects.

Ca Chep Island

More than 20 km from the center of Hanoi, by the Red River in the area of Hong Ha commune, Dan Phuong district, there is a place called Ca Cop island. The land is vast, the grass is low and clean, and the air is cool, suitable for outdoor activities such as kite flying, soccer, and off-road riding. Mr. Khoi suggested that tourists should camp on the mudflat's sandy beaches, far from the path of ships, not to be disturbed by noise.This area was once widely shared on social networks, attracting many tourists to camp. After a while, this place returned to its wild, quiet appearance.
Easy to ride, suitable for both motorbikes and cars. Visitors can buy necessary items at the market outside the dike. There are some camping facilities for visitors to contact if needed.

Bu Hill

Bu Hill is located on the border between Chuong My district, Hanoi, and Luong Son district, Hoa Binh, about 40 km from the center of Hanoi.Bu Hill is known for its reed fields along the hillside around October. This is also an ideal place for camping in the summer with cool, fresh air. In Bu Hill, there are two areas for visitors to experience paragliding.
The campsite is still wild, so there are no services, if you want to use it, you have to move to the high jump. When camping overnight, it is recommended to bring stakes and anchor ropes to strengthen the tent because the top of the mountain is windy.
