The owner of the hydrangea bouquet that has caused a stir in recent days is Mr. Tran Anh Dien (the owner of the raspberry culinary tour area), taking advantage of the frame of the bouquet model from the pots of raspberry chrysanthemum and cactus. Bat Tien is the largest in Vietnam. Mr. Dien said that this bouquet of hydrangeas is in the work he is testing to turn the hydrangeas into ornamental flowers for the decoration of buildings and houses.
“Hydrangeas are so special that they can change color at will when changing the pH of the substrate, so I experimented with mixing clay and rice mill dust to grow hydrangeas. This is a Japanese hydrangea variety with an average height of 2 feet, the maximum diameter of the flower is about 1 glove. Flowers have about 5 – 6 colors. In this test, I aim for the blue flowering hydrangeas. The current result is very satisfactory because the flowers are up to 90% of the correct color, ”said Dien.
Also according to the owner of the garden, the diameter of the bouquet is 14 meters, the height is nearly 5 meters, and the length is 12.5 meters, which is made up of 1,000 pots of Japanese hydrangeas with 100 pots of rice orchids and 100 pots of coconut cream. Because flowers do not like harsh sunlight, he installs a shade net to dissipate heat and limit frost. He experimented on Japanese hydrangeas because the flowers have low stems, uniform sizes, which are suitable for building flowers and urban landscapes.
To achieve this success, Mr. Dien said that it took him 3 years to grow hydrangeas. At the beginning, he imported seeds from Da Lat to try planting, but it was ineffective because of different soil and climate, so the plants grew slowly or did not flower as expected. Later, when he came to every hydrangea garden in Da Lat to learn, Mr. Dien gained a lot of experience.“Hydrangeas are quite sensitive to water and temperature and are both hydrophilic but not waterlogged. When planting in pots or in the ground, first pay attention to the substrate or the place to grow with good drainage. Watering 3 times per day on average. Flowers grow about 5 – 6 months to flower.
In order to flower in the right season, it is necessary to proactively cut off the leaves to create a clean environment for the plants to raise flowers “.Currently, Mr. Dien has successfully planted more than 5,000 stems and pots of hydrangeas from the Netherlands, Japan, and Vietnam on the campus of the Cucumber tourist area. Besides, Mr. Dien also self-nursed hydrangeas by cutting branches and seedlings from 15 to 30 days to start taking root.
As for the huge bouquet of hydrangeas, Mr. Dien said, by the end of April, the pots of hydrangeas will spread out evenly across the flower’s surface. It is open to visitors free of charge. Until April 30 and May 1, when Mr. Dien has finished decorating the landscape and the game will charge an entrance fee.
