Vietnamese wushu athletes win three gold medals in first competing day
NDO/VNA – Vietnamese wushu athletes won three gold and two bronze medals in the first day of wushu taolu

The 2026 U23 Asian Athletics Championships kicked off with a remarkable performance from Vietnam's athletes, who secured three medals on the first day of competition, July 10. The event is being held in China and will continue until July 12.
Lê Thị Cẩm Tú led the Vietnamese team by winning a silver medal in the women's 200m final. Competing in lane 7, she dominated most of the race but was narrowly beaten in the final meters by Jiang Yutong from China, who took the gold with a time of 23.47 seconds. Cẩm Tú finished just behind with a personal best of 23.50 seconds, while Ami Takahashi from Japan secured the bronze with a time of 23.66 seconds.
In addition to Cẩm Tú's success, Hà Thị Thúy Hằng earned a bronze medal in the women's long jump, achieving a distance of 6.10 meters. She finished just 1 cm behind Anastassiya Rypakova from Kazakhstan, who took silver with a jump of 6.11 meters. The gold medal in this event went to Yingying Huang from China, who reached 6.48 meters.
The third medal for Vietnam came from Lê Thị Tuyết, who claimed bronze in the women's 5,000m race. She completed the race in 17 minutes and 5.30 seconds, finishing behind gold medalist Yuan Li from China, who clocked in at 16 minutes and 45.07 seconds.
The Vietnamese athletics team is optimistic as they continue to compete in various events throughout the championships, aiming for more medals and recognition on the Asian stage.
