The FIFA ASEAN Cup is set to occur every four years, according to the latest announcement from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The first tournament in this new series will be held in 2026, with matches taking place in Indonesia and Hong Kong.

The 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup will feature two divisions: Division 1 and Division 2. Teams competing in Division 1 will play in Indonesia, which includes Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Bangladesh in Group A, while Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Pakistan will compete in Group B. Division 2 matches will be hosted in Hong Kong, featuring teams such as Hong Kong, Laos, and Brunei in Group A, and Cambodia, Timor Leste, and Myanmar in Group B.

Vietnam is viewed as one of the leading championship contenders for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026, alongside Indonesia and Thailand. This lineup of favorites mirrors the teams that participated in the recently concluded ASEAN Cup 2026.

The top two teams from each group in Division 1 will advance to the final to compete for the championship title, while the second-placed teams will play for third place. Division 2 will also have a final to determine the top team, but there will be no match for third place.

The tournament is scheduled to run from September 24 to October 5, 2026. Following this inaugural event, the second FIFA ASEAN Cup is planned for 2030. However, the continuation of the tournament every four years will depend on FIFA's ability to secure commercial sponsorship and broadcast rights.
