Ukraine Launches Record Attack on Russia with Drones and Missiles
Ukraine has reportedly executed its largest long-range strike against Russia since the conflict began,

On the morning of October 7, Russia officially commenced a large-scale attack on Ukraine, utilizing a mix of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This offensive, as reported by AMK Military, was anticipated and involved at least 20 missiles aimed at Kyiv, the capital region, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk. Key infrastructure was hit, including the Trypillya thermal power plant and the Kremenchuk hydroelectric power station, leading to significant fires in the aftermath of the strikes.
While some missiles were intercepted over Kyiv, the exact number of those downed is still being verified. Reports indicate that between five to eight Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from a Buyan-M-class corvette in the Caspian Sea. Additionally, six to ten strategic bombers, including Tu-95MS and Tu-160M, were airborne, preparing to launch dozens of Kh-101 cruise missiles towards Ukraine.
The situation escalated further as Russian forces targeted a bridge in Zaporizhia and trucks at a crossing point near Mayaky. On October 6, explosions were reported in Nalyvaikivka, close to Kyiv, where a major electrical substation is located. In response, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) launched a significant counterattack near Moscow, resulting in two fatalities and seven injuries, with damage reported in seven municipalities, including an oil depot.
However, the effectiveness of Ukraine's counteroffensive appears limited, according to Military Summary. Despite deploying up to 1,200 UAVs against Moscow, only minimal damage was inflicted, such as a fire at an oil depot. Meanwhile, Russia's airstrikes have expanded across Ukraine, targeting transportation infrastructure, including a bridge over the Dnieper River, following Ukraine's earlier attack on the Crimean bridge.
As tensions between the two nations continue to rise, both sides are engaged in a tit-for-tat exchange of strikes, with Russia tightening its grip around Dobropillia, anticipating Ukrainian attempts to break the siege. Reports suggest that Russian forces have fortified their defenses in response to expected Ukrainian counterattacks, particularly around the town of Belozerskoye.
Ukrainian forces are reportedly regrouping and planning to increase pressure on Russian troops in the area. The ongoing conflict remains complex, with both sides suffering casualties and struggling to maintain control over contested regions.
