Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Three Family Members in Dong Nai

Nguyễn Đức Anh, the man convicted of murdering a mother and her two children in Dong Nai, has been sentenced to death. The court determined that his actions were exceptionally dangerous, leading to the deaths of three individuals and leaving another severely injured. On October 6, the Dong Nai People's Court sentenced Đức Anh to six years in prison for illegal use of military weapons and death for murder, resulting in a total sentence of death.

The court also ordered Đức Anh to compensate the victims' family a total of 1.1 billion VND. The incident occurred when Đức Anh broke into the home of Nguyễn Văn Quang, attacking the family with two knives and a meat cleaver. The court noted that his actions were inhumane and caused significant public distress.

During the trial, the representative of the Dong Nai People's Procuracy confirmed that the charges against Đức Anh were accurate. The prosecution highlighted the brutality of the crime, particularly the fact that the children were killed while they were sleeping. The court emphasized that Đức Anh's actions demonstrated a complete lack of humanity and that he could not be rehabilitated, necessitating the highest punishment to permanently remove him from society.

Following the verdict, Đức Anh was taken back to prison. The victims' family had requested over 4.5 billion VND in damages, which included medical costs and compensation for emotional suffering. The defense attorney for Đức Anh expressed remorse on his behalf, acknowledging that no apology or compensation could truly make up for the family's loss. The crime was reportedly motivated by a personal vendetta after Đức Anh was rejected by a former girlfriend.

On the night of the attack, after consuming alcohol, Đức Anh attempted to enter his ex-girlfriend's home but was thwarted by her father. He then moved on to the adjacent home of Quang and launched his violent assault. The court's decision reflects the severity of the crime and the need for justice for the victims.
