A significant real estate project in Ho Chi Minh City, known as the Sing Viet urban area, has been listed for sale at a staggering $500 million after nearly three decades of stagnation. Initially planned in 1999 with an investment of $300 million, the project spans 363 hectares and includes various amenities such as a horse racing track, a golf course, urban residential areas, and land for resettlement. However, the construction has yet to commence due to ongoing reviews related to legal cases involving the Vạn Thịnh Phát Group.
The Sing Viet project is managed by Sing Viet Urban Company, which was originally owned by Amaland Pte. Ltd. from Singapore. Trương Mỹ Lan later acquired 100% of Amaland's shares, with 97% held by Regionaland Pte. Ltd. and the remaining 3% by minority shareholders. Following this acquisition, Ms. Trương directed the transfer of 97% of Amaland's shares to her daughter, Chu Duyệt Phấn. However, the transfer process has faced complications due to disputes over the ownership of the shares and the ongoing investigation into the Vạn Thịnh Phát case.
As of now, approximately 30 hectares of the project remain without completed compensation and land clearance, further complicating the potential sale. The Ho Chi Minh City government has tasked the city inspectorate to oversee a review of projects connected to the Vạn Thịnh Phát case, which continues to impact the future of the Sing Viet urban area.
