Fuel Prices Drop in Vietnam on October 1

On October 1, 2026, fuel prices in Vietnam are anticipated to drop in line with a global decrease in oil prices. This adjustment comes as the international market experiences fluctuations, particularly following a recent increase in oil prices at the end of September.

As of September 30, the price of Brent crude oil had increased by 0.91 USD per barrel, while WTI crude oil rose by 1.04 USD per barrel. However, by the morning of October 1, both types of crude oil saw a decline, with WTI priced at 90.06 USD per barrel, down by 0.36 USD, and Brent at 97.84 USD, down by 0.19 USD.

The oil market is currently influenced by mixed signals regarding supply. On one hand, there are concerns about limited supply due to ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, which have yet to yield significant progress. On the other hand, oil exports from the Middle East have shown a strong recovery, reaching approximately 98% of pre-conflict levels, according to a report by JPMorgan.

As for domestic prices, the retail prices for gasoline and oil, as published by Petrolimex, have been adjusted following the latest price management period. The expected reductions for the next pricing period include a decrease of about 0-30 VND per liter for E10 gasoline and a significant drop of approximately 1,050 VND per liter for diesel.

It is important to note that these prices are subject to change based on market developments, and consumers are advised to stay informed about ongoing price adjustments.
