Fuel Prices Rise Again on September 28

On September 28, global fuel prices have shown a significant upward trend following a steep decline last week. As of 7:57 AM (Vietnam time), WTI crude oil was priced at $93.19 per barrel, marking an increase of $0.78, or 0.84%. The previous closing price was $92.41 per barrel, with today's opening at $93.73.

Meanwhile, Brent crude oil reached $98.40 per barrel, up by $0.96, or 0.99%. The prior closing price for Brent was $97.44, and it opened today at $98.63. The recent increase in global oil prices is largely influenced by the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, which continue to impact the energy market.

Last week, oil prices fluctuated following positive signals from negotiations between the United States and Iran in New York. Both parties are considering a step-by-step roadmap to end the conflict, which could see Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the gradual lifting of U.S. economic sanctions. However, Iran has firmly stated it will not compromise on its nuclear program, even if the U.S. agrees to the proposal concerning the Strait of Hormuz, which includes conditions such as lifting naval blockades on Iranian ports.

Additionally, attacks by Houthi forces on Saudi Arabia continue to create caution in the market. The Houthi group, backed by Iran, has carried out multiple attacks targeting Saudi facilities.

In Vietnam, the retail prices of gasoline and oil have been adjusted according to Petrolimex's pricing table for regions 1 and 2 as of September 28, 2026. The adjustments were made following the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance's price management cycle, effective from 3 PM on September 24.

  • Diesel 0.05S - II: 2,250 VND/liter
  • E10 RON 95-III: 1,550 VND/liter
  • E10: 1,200 VND/liter (for northern region)
  • Diesel 0.05S-II: 2,400 VND/liter (for northern region)

Looking ahead, a representative from a fuel trading company predicts that retail fuel prices may experience mixed trends in the upcoming price management cycle. Specifically, E10 gasoline may rise by approximately 200 VND/liter, while E5 RON 92-II could see an increase of 0-30 VND/liter, and Diesel prices may drop by around 1,400 VND/liter.

It is important to note that today's fuel prices are for reference only and may change based on market developments.
