The Long Thanh Airport terminal is gearing up for its test operations scheduled for early October, with construction progressing rapidly. As of late September, workers are finalizing key areas, including the central 'heart' section of the terminal. This ambitious project, which commenced in August 2023, has an investment of over 35 trillion VND and has reached 76% completion.

According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the focus is on completing the architecture, electromechanical systems, fire safety, and information technology installations. The western wing of the terminal has seen significant progress, with its roof and interior nearing completion. The central area and the western wing will be prioritized for the initial test operations.

The Long Thanh Airport is set to incorporate advanced technologies, allowing passengers to check in using biometric systems and self-service luggage drop-off. This innovative approach aims to enhance the travel experience significantly.

Phase one of the airport is projected to commence commercial operations by the end of 2026. To ensure timely progress, ACV is increasing workforce resources on-site, closely monitoring the advancement of various sections, and prioritizing essential components for operation.

Outside, the terminal is nearly finished and connects seamlessly with taxiways, parking areas, runways, and the control tower. The design of the terminal is inspired by the shape of a lotus flower, symbolizing beauty and elegance.

The Long Thanh Airport project, which began construction in early 2021, spans over 5,000 hectares in Long Thanh and has a total investment of nearly 337 trillion VND, marking it as a national key project. The control tower is also ready for test operations starting in early October, having already facilitated the first safe landings of flights.
