On September 17, 2026, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen hosted a meeting with a delegation from the Advanced Medical Technology Association (ADVAMED), led by Vice President Aileen Nandi. The Deputy Minister praised ADVAMED's interest in the Vietnamese healthcare market and its efforts to promote collaboration and share experiences between international medical equipment companies and Vietnam.

According to Tuyen, medical equipment plays an increasingly vital role in protecting and enhancing public health. Vietnam aims to continue improving its institutional framework, enhancing state management efficiency, fostering innovation, digital transformation, and ensuring that citizens have access to advanced, safe, and high-quality medical products and technologies. In this context, the Ministry of Health is keen to hear from associations and the business community, particularly regarding international experiences and specific proposals to refine the legal environment, improve management efficiency, and facilitate the production and business of medical equipment in Vietnam.

Aileen Nandi expressed ADVAMED's desire to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam's direction in managing medical devices. The association is particularly interested in the Ministry of Health's draft Medical Device Law and the opportunity to contribute suggestions and share best practices and international experiences.

The delegation also requested updates on the 2026-2030 Medical Device Supply Chain Management Project and the direction towards 2035, the implementation of Good Distribution Practices (GDP) for medical devices, international integration in medical device management, administrative procedure reforms, digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. Additionally, ADVAMED discussed issues related to medical device pricing management, intellectual property protection, and practical concerns for businesses operating in Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen acknowledged ADVAMED's proposals as practical and relevant to the ongoing improvement of Vietnam's medical device management system. Regarding the draft Medical Device Law, Tuyen stated that the Ministry is focused on creating a legal framework that is coherent, transparent, feasible, and aligned with Vietnam's realities while also considering international experiences and practices.

The Ministry of Health aims to continue listening to international experiences and specific proposals from ADVAMED to study, select, and apply them appropriately to Vietnam's conditions.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health and ADVAMED discussed each proposal and potential collaboration opportunities, clearly defining the roles and responsibilities of the agencies involved while ensuring compliance with current legal regulations.

Through these discussions, both parties aim to identify specific areas for cooperation between the Ministry of Health, ADVAMED, and member businesses in the near future, including activities related to APEC 2027 in Vietnam.

In conclusion, Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen requested that the Ministry's specialized units continue to engage with ADVAMED, studying the proposals based on legal regulations and Vietnam's practical conditions to select suitable content for concrete, practical cooperation activities.

Over the past two decades, Vietnam and the United States have implemented numerous cooperative activities aimed at preventing and combating infectious diseases, saving lives, and strengthening the healthcare system. Since 2004, the total value of U.S. healthcare support for Vietnam has exceeded $930 million.
