General Secretary Tô Lâm expressed Vietnam's deep appreciation for the substantial support and cooperation that past leaders, particularly President Putin and the Russian people, have provided to Vietnam in its historical struggle for independence and its current development efforts.
Both leaders reaffirmed that Vietnam and Russia are reliable and natural partners, committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields. They agreed to boost economic collaboration, aiming to increase bilateral trade to $15 billion by fostering connections between businesses and exploring new investment opportunities.
Energy and oil continue to be vital pillars of the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership, with discussions extending to new energy sectors such as nuclear power and renewable sources. They emphasized the importance of peaceful nuclear energy cooperation, which could significantly impact the relationship in the new development phase.
In the realm of defense and security, both leaders agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation and address non-traditional security challenges. They also discussed the importance of scientific and technological innovation as a driving force in their partnership.
Tô Lâm invited President Putin to consider easing visa restrictions for Vietnamese citizens and expressed Vietnam's readiness to host the 'Russian Culture Season in Vietnam' in 2027. Additionally, they agreed to enhance cultural, artistic, and educational exchanges to foster mutual understanding between the two nations.
