In a peculiar case in Hanoi, two women living next to each other have been sentenced for their continuous quarrels that disrupted public order. Hoàng Kim Ngân, 35, and Phạm Thị Lan Hương, 44, were found guilty of causing public disorder and received suspended prison sentences of 12 months and 6 months, respectively.

The conflict between the two neighbors, who reside on Trần Khát Chân street, stemmed from a long-standing disagreement over the space between their homes. This ongoing feud led to frequent confrontations and verbal altercations, which escalated to a physical scuffle that affected the surrounding community.

The incident reached a peak on July 2, 2024, when a heated exchange occurred outside their homes. Following this, local authorities received complaints regarding the disturbances, prompting the local government to issue a request for investigation to maintain public order.

During the court hearing on September 8, Ngân admitted to her actions, while Hương denied causing any disturbances, despite previously acknowledging her use of foul language against her neighbor. The court considered witness testimonies, video footage, and audio recordings to assess the sincerity of both parties, leading to the differing sentences.

This case highlights the challenges of maintaining neighborhood harmony and the legal repercussions that can arise from personal disputes.
