Hanoi FC has officially announced the signing of Australian striker Adam Taggart on August 31, 2026, completing a noteworthy transfer with the player who participated in the 2014 World Cup. The club confirmed the signing through their official Facebook page, welcoming Taggart as a key addition before the upcoming season.

Prior to joining Hanoi FC, Taggart parted ways with Perth Glory, where he had recently signed a one-year contract in late May 2026. However, after just three months, he opted to seek new challenges abroad. Perth Glory confirmed that this decision was mutual, with the club's football director, Stan Lazaridis, stating they did not wish to hinder their captain from pursuing an attractive opportunity and praised Taggart's contributions during his time with the team.

Taggart returned to Perth Glory for the third time in 2023, quickly establishing himself as a vital player. He holds the record for being the club's all-time leading scorer in the A-League and has either won or shared the top scorer title for the club in the last four seasons. Throughout his club career, Taggart has made a total of 332 appearances, scoring 139 goals and providing 18 assists. In the A-League Men, he has played 193 matches, netting 90 goals and assisting 14 times.

His career has also included stints in South Korea, Japan, England, and Scotland before returning to Australia. Notably, during his time in South Korea, he was named to the K League Best XI in 2019.
