According to reports from Starnews Korea, Lee suffered a sudden heart attack on August 29 and did not survive. His body is currently at the funeral home in Gyeonggi, with family and friends holding a farewell ceremony on the morning of August 31.

"I visited Yong Joo one last time with a heavy heart. In a 2013 interview, Lee revealed that he was unable to fulfill his military service due to a heart condition. In recent years, he had taken on fewer roles and made rare appearances at entertainment events. Earlier this year, in February, Lee mentioned that he was managing a travel company based in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

Born in 1982, Lee Yong Joo began his career as a model before transitioning to acting in 2004. He appeared in numerous films and television series, including notable works such as 'Sunyoung’s Letter', 'Blue Tower', 'My Boyfriend is Type B', and 'Hello Francesca'. His last film was 'New Recruit', which premiered in 2022.
