The Vietnamese food safety authority has ordered the e-commerce platform Shopee to stop selling 11 health products that do not comply with the official registration documents. This directive was issued after the Ministry of Health received complaints regarding the sale of counterfeit and substandard goods, prompting an investigation into the matter.

On August 28, the food safety authority sent formal notices to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Health Department of Hanoi, and Shopee. The investigation revealed that the registration documents for these products did not match the information provided by the regulatory body. The products in question include:

• Creatine Monohydrate
• Magnesium Citrate 400 mg + B6
• Ostrovit Omega 3 D3 + K2
• Ostrovit Vitamin D3 4000 + K2
• Caffeine 200 mg
• Ostrovit Zinc Picolinate
• CLA + Green Tea + L-Carnitine
• ZMAdvanced
• Ostrovit Ashwagandha Vege
• Ostrovit L-Theanine

In light of these findings, the food safety authority has requested that Shopee conduct a thorough review of its operations concerning health supplements. The platform is instructed to only sell products that have been officially registered and approved by the relevant authorities.

Additionally, the authority has urged other e-commerce platforms, such as Lazada, to follow suit and eliminate any products that do not meet safety standards. The Health Department of Hanoi has been tasked with investigating the source of these products, particularly focusing on the import and distribution practices of the involved companies. Any violations discovered during this process may lead to legal action.

The food safety authority has set a deadline for the Health Department to report back on the investigation's findings by September 15, 2026. This proactive measure aims to ensure consumer safety and maintain the integrity of health product sales in Vietnam.
