An urgent investigation is currently being conducted in Lam Dong province after 84 individuals reported symptoms of food poisoning following their consumption of sandwiches from a local vendor. The Ministry of Health has mandated a thorough investigation to determine the cause and ensure public safety.

On July 29, the Food Safety Department of the Ministry of Health sent a directive to the Lam Dong Health Department to investigate the suspected food poisoning incident linked to Minh Trung sandwich shop, located in Hai Ba Trung hamlet, Nam Ban, Lam Ha district. According to a report received from the Lam Dong Food Safety Authority, many individuals began experiencing symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, fever, and diarrhea shortly after consuming the sandwiches, leading to their hospitalization.

To mitigate health risks, the Food Safety Department has requested local healthcare facilities to prioritize treatment for the affected individuals. They have also urged the community to be vigilant and report any symptoms of food poisoning to the nearest health station for timely assistance.

The Lam Dong Health Department has been instructed to promptly trace the food sources involved in this incident to identify the potential cause of the poisoning. This includes collecting food samples and patient specimens for testing to ascertain the origins of the contamination. If any violations of food safety regulations are discovered, strict penalties will be enforced, and the results of the investigation will be made public to inform the community.

In addition, the Food Safety Department has called for the development of training programs to educate food business operators about safe food handling practices. This initiative aims to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and improve hygiene standards in food preparation and service.
