The National Competition Committee of Vietnam has imposed a fine of 450 million VND (approximately $19,000) on Nu Skin Enterprises Vietnam for a series of violations in its multi-level marketing activities. This decision follows a thorough inspection aimed at ensuring compliance with laws governing multi-level marketing and consumer rights protection.
According to the committee, Nu Skin failed to provide contracts to participants in its sales network as required by law. Additionally, the company did not allow consumers to opt-in or opt-out of certain practices, which is mandated under the Consumer Rights Protection Law of 2023. Other violations included the lack of specific terms regarding the applicability of general transaction conditions, failure to establish a public process for addressing consumer complaints, and not implementing appropriate measures to protect vulnerable consumers' rights.
The committee has ordered Nu Skin to cease these violations and to conduct a comprehensive review to ensure full compliance with legal regulations regarding multi-level marketing and consumer rights protection. This case underscores the ongoing scrutiny of multi-level marketing practices in Vietnam, as authorities aim to safeguard consumer interests and promote fair business practices.
