Vietnam Launches New Mobile Network

Vietnam Post has officially announced its foray into the mobile telecommunications sector by implementing a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) model. The company has partnered with the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to utilize its infrastructure, allowing Vietnam Post to develop its own brand, products, distribution systems, and customer care services.

As part of this initial market entry, Vietnam Post has introduced the Pottel SIM brand, although it has yet to disclose a specific phone number prefix. This strategy enables Vietnam Post to capitalize on existing telecommunications infrastructure, significantly shortening deployment time, optimizing investment resources, and focusing more on creating direct value for customers.

The MVNO model, which is gaining traction in various global markets, allows companies to concentrate their resources on leveraging unique advantages to create differentiated products and services rather than investing in building entirely new telecommunications networks. This approach also facilitates Vietnam Post in connecting telecommunications services with its existing service ecosystem, progressively enhancing its ability to serve customers in both physical and digital environments.

According to a license granted by the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology in December 2025, Vietnam Post is authorized to establish a public mobile telecommunications network that does not utilize radio frequency bands, with a nationwide implementation scope. The services provided will include voice calls, messaging, machine-to-machine connectivity, and internet access.
