The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam has revealed plans to auction the rights to use the mobile number 095, which was previously linked to the now-defunct SFone network. This significant move is aimed at effectively utilizing the telecommunications number resources that have remained idle since SFone stopped operations in 2016.
The auction will take place online on the website of the Vietnam Auction Partnership Company on the morning of July 10. The starting price for the mobile number 095 has been set at 2.5 billion VND, with each bidding increment fixed at 250 million VND.
To participate in the bidding for this number, organizations must submit a deposit of 500 million VND. Eligible participants include organizations or companies established under Vietnamese law, which must meet stringent conditions regarding their telecommunications service licenses or virtual mobile network services. Furthermore, participants must demonstrate that they have fulfilled all financial obligations related to telecommunications and radio frequency before the auction occurs. This requirement ensures the capability and responsibility of the enterprises concerning national resources.
Upon successful bidding and allocation of the number, the winning bidder must provide a written commitment to put the number 095 into practical use within a maximum of six months. According to the Telecommunications Department, organizing this auction not only addresses the demand for number resources from businesses and the public but also contributes significantly to the state budget.
