Ho Chi Minh City and the southern region of Vietnam are set to experience a rise in rain and thunderstorms from August 5 to August 7, 2026. The Vietnam Southern Meteorological Center has reported that the convergence zone will remain active, combined with a stronger southwest monsoon, leading to this weather pattern.
The forecast indicates that the tropical convergence zone will continue to influence the weather, with the southwest monsoon gradually intensifying. The high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere will begin to withdraw eastward, allowing for more favorable conditions for rain and thunderstorms in the southern areas.
During the day, the southern region will see variable cloud cover with intermittent sunshine, resulting in reduced sunlight intensity compared to previous days. The eastern region can expect maximum temperatures ranging from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius, while the western region will see temperatures between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius.
Rain is anticipated mainly in the afternoon and evening, with light to moderate showers expected. The eastern region is likely to experience scattered rain and thunderstorms with a probability exceeding 80%, while the western region may see sporadic rain with a 30-50% chance. Some areas, particularly in northern Dong Nai and Lam Dong, could witness moderate to heavy rainfall.
Residents are advised to be cautious during thunderstorms, as there may be risks of lightning strikes, localized heavy rain, and strong winds, which could affect outdoor activities and transportation.
