In a shocking revelation, authorities have seized 13.5 tons of gold, equivalent to around 1.8 billion USD (47 trillion VND), from a villa in China. The gold was discovered during an investigation into a high-ranking official, Zhang Qi, who was previously under scrutiny for serious violations of discipline and law.

The investigation, which began in 2019, led to the discovery of the gold hidden in a secret vault within Zhang's residence. Images circulating on social media show the gold bars and coins covering the floors, tables, and shelves of the villa, sparking widespread astonishment and outrage among the public.

In addition to the vast amount of gold, authorities also found a significant quantity of cash, numerous antiques, property ownership documents, and other valuable assets. Reports indicate that Zhang Qi had multiple bank accounts with substantial balances, further highlighting the extent of his illicit wealth.

This case has become one of the most talked-about corruption scandals in recent years, drawing attention to the ongoing issues of corruption among officials in China.
