Iraqi officials recently released a video showing investigators discovering a container filled with cash, which is part of a larger corruption investigation. According to National News, the seized amount exceeds $10 million and was found concealed in a container wrapped in plastic bags and hidden among bushes in Salahuddin province.

This discovery is linked to the ongoing investigation into former Oil Minister Adnan Al Jumaili, who was arrested last month. During the investigation, authorities have uncovered several astonishing hiding places for money, including $20 million hidden in water bottles, concealed under drainage systems, and within the walls of Al Jumaili's residence.

Officials reported that they have confiscated over $10 million in cash, which includes both U.S. dollars and Iraqi dinars, along with 40 gold bars and 5 kg of gold jewelry. The Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq stated that the investigation into Al Jumaili is ongoing, aiming to trace assets acquired through illegal activities and identify other individuals involved.

This latest seizure occurs amid Iraq's nationwide anti-corruption campaign, known as Operation Dawn, launched by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi at the end of June. This initiative, in collaboration with the Federal Integrity Commission and the Supreme Judicial Council, has led to the arrest of dozens of current and former officials. Authorities are continuing to recover significant assets and expand investigations into corruption networks.
