Truong Tien Anh Receives Sad News Amid ASEAN Cup Preparations

Truong Tien Anh, a defender for the Vietnam national football team, recently faced a personal tragedy as he announced the passing of his grandmother. This sad news came just as the team arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, to prepare for their upcoming match against the host nation in the 2026 ASEAN Cup.

On the evening of July 31, Tien Anh took to his personal social media account to share his sorrow, changing his profile picture and posting a heartfelt message that read, "I miss my grandmother so much." His announcement drew an outpouring of condolences from fans and teammates alike. Fellow player Nguyen Dinh Bac expressed his sympathies, stating, "I offer my condolences to you and your family," while others, including Khuat Van Khang and Nham Manh Dung, sent words of encouragement, hoping Tien Anh and his family could overcome this loss.

According to reports, Tien Anh received the news of his grandmother's passing shortly after the team landed in Jakarta. Following this, the team moved to Bogor to continue their training in preparation for the match against Indonesia, scheduled for the evening of August 3. This match comes after Vietnam's previous game, which ended in a 0-0 draw against Singapore. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his players are focused on refining their skills ahead of this crucial encounter.

Born in 1999, Truong Tien Anh developed his skills at the Viettel Football Academy. In the 2025/26 season, he transferred to Ninh Binh FC and has since been called up to the national team by Coach Kim Sang-sik. In the recent match against Singapore at My Dinh Stadium, Tien Anh played the full game and was actively involved in offensive plays.
