Power Dynamics Shift at PC1 with New Chairwoman

The landscape of power at PC1 is undergoing a transformation with the recent appointment of Trinh Khanh Linh as chairwoman. Born in 1999, she steps into this role amid a backdrop of significant shareholder activity. As of mid-July 2026, major shareholders, including CII with 11.09% and VietinBank Capital with 7.54%, have been actively increasing their stakes in the company, which has led to a notable shift in ownership dynamics.

Trinh Khanh Linh, the daughter of former chairman Trinh Van Tuan, brings a fresh perspective to the leadership of PC1. She holds a degree in Finance from George Washington University and previously worked at KPMG Vietnam and Vietcap Securities. Currently, she manages nearly 88 million shares, representing 21.38% of the company’s charter capital, which aligns with her father's previous holdings.

The recent extraordinary general meeting on July 24, 2026, saw the election of four new board members, including Linh and Trinh Tien Dung, who were appointed to key positions. This meeting reflects the company's efforts to enhance governance and transparency, welcoming the participation of significant shareholders to foster sustainable development.

Despite the potential for investor caution following the legal troubles faced by former chairman Trinh Van Tuan and others, the influx of institutional investors suggests confidence in PC1's future. CII, for instance, has been actively purchasing shares, viewing its investment as a strategic move into the energy sector, which is essential given the rising demand for electricity in Vietnam.

As of July 22, CII has increased its holdings in PC1 to over 45 million shares, solidifying its position as a major stakeholder. Meanwhile, VietinBank Capital has also expanded its shareholding significantly, with reports indicating an increase to 31 million shares.

PC1's leadership has expressed openness to further investments from large shareholders, emphasizing the importance of its workforce of approximately 1,700 engineers and staff as the core asset that drives the company's success. The company is also exploring new opportunities, including negotiations for a $200 million offshore wind power project in the Philippines, which could pave the way for deeper involvement in Vietnam's offshore wind market.

With ongoing projects in hydropower and a focus on expanding its customer base beyond state-owned enterprises, PC1 is poised for growth and adaptation in a competitive market.
