Young Man Uses Electric Bike Battery to Rescue Driver from Wreck

On July 7, an 18-year-old named Chu was riding his electric bike when he came across an overturned car on the roadside in Shantou, Guangdong province. Without hesitation, he stopped and removed the battery from his electric bike to break the car's window, allowing him to rescue the driver who was trapped inside.

The rescue operation took about three to four minutes, during which Chu sustained minor injuries from the shattered glass. A video of the incident was shared on social media, quickly gaining traction and prompting praise for Chu's bravery.

On July 8, a senior manager from the electric bike brand that Chu used reached out via video, seeking to identify him and offering a reward. Chu was informed that he could choose any model from the company's current lineup as a replacement for the bike he used in the rescue. Despite the damage, Chu confirmed that his bike was still operational and expressed interest in receiving a new bike similar to his own.

The company confirmed that they would gift Chu the bike of his choice, valued at approximately 20,000 yuan (about $2,950), and arrange for its delivery to his home. The incident has sparked discussions online, with many applauding Chu's courageous actions while others debated the most effective methods for rescue.

This event highlights the importance of quick thinking and bravery in emergency situations, as well as the recognition of heroic deeds in society.
