Ninth China International Import Expo Promotion Held in Thailand

The Ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) promotion event, themed "Sharing a Big Market: Exporting to China," was held in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 9. More than 200 representatives from the business communities of China and Thailand participated in the event to discuss high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation.

In his speech, China's Vice Minister of Commerce, Yan Dong, highlighted that China has been Thailand's largest trading partner for 13 consecutive years, and Thailand is an important trade partner for China within ASEAN. He emphasized that 2026 marks the beginning of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, and the CIIE will work in conjunction with the "Exporting to China" series of activities to expand imports and share new opportunities for development with countries worldwide.

Thailand has been designated as one of the theme countries for the "Exporting to China" initiative in 2026, and Yan encouraged Thai businesses to actively participate in the Ninth CIIE to connect with Chinese partners and elevate the economic and trade relationship between the two nations.

Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Zhang Jianwei, noted the high-level development of China-Thailand relations and the fruitful results of economic cooperation. This year, China invited Thailand to serve as the annual theme country for "Exporting to China," aiming to promote the export of high-quality Thai products to China and share new development opportunities.

During the event, the China International Import Expo Bureau promoted the Ninth CIIE, while the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products discussed the potential for expanding agricultural and food product imports. Thai and Chinese enterprises engaged in business negotiations, focusing on cooperation opportunities in key sectors such as rubber, fruits, and cosmetics.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Commerce of China, the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, and the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, with support from the China International Import Expo Bureau, the Foreign Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, and the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce.
