Lunar Calendar Insights for July 13: A Cautionary Day

Today, July 13, 2026, is the final day of the fifth lunar month in the Year of the Fire Horse. According to Vietnamese beliefs, this day is considered inauspicious, advising caution for those planning to embark on journeys or initiate important projects.

In the lunar calendar, today corresponds to the 29th day of the fifth month, classified as a Mậu Tý day. The lunar month began on June 15 and will conclude tomorrow, July 14, when the sixth month, known as the Month of the Wood Goat, begins. Tomorrow will be a Kỷ Sửu day in the lunar calendar.

Today is also recognized as Thiên Tặc day, which further emphasizes the caution advised for activities such as travel or starting new ventures. Many believe that actions taken on this day may lead to misfortune, including theft or unsuccessful endeavors.

In terms of seasonal significance, today marks the seventh solar day of the year 2026, coinciding with the Tiểu Thử solar term, which is the 11th of the 24 solar terms. This period began on July 7 and will last until July 22.

Historically, July 13 holds significance in Vietnam as it commemorates the 1885 royal decree by Emperor Hàm Nghi, calling for resistance against foreign invaders. This movement, known as the Cần Vương movement, saw widespread participation across the country, with notable uprisings led by figures such as Phan Đình Phùng and Nguyễn Thiện Thuật.

In contrast, July 13 is celebrated in the West as National Rock Day, encouraging individuals to explore geological wonders and learn about the diversity of rock types. This day promotes a passion for technology and creativity, inviting people to express their interests openly.
