Starting today, July 1, 2026, workers across Vietnam will officially enjoy an additional paid day off, designated as Vietnam Culture Day, which falls on November 24 each year. This initiative is part of the resolution 28/2026/QH16 aimed at developing Vietnamese culture.
According to Article 2 of Resolution 28/2026/QH16, effective from today, November 24 will be recognized as Vietnam Culture Day, allowing workers to take this day off while still receiving their full salary. This marks the first time that the law has officially recognized a paid day off for workers in honor of Vietnam Culture Day.
In addition to granting workers a day off with full pay, the resolution also stipulates the exemption or reduction of fees for visiting public cultural and sports facilities on Vietnam Culture Day, as determined by the relevant government authorities. Furthermore, the resolution encourages the public, especially youth and children, to participate in cultural activities during major national holidays to help promote the cultural values of Vietnam.
Resolution 28/2026/QH16 was approved by the National Assembly on April 24, 2026, and is now in effect. As a result, the regulation allowing workers to take a paid day off on Vietnam Culture Day has officially been implemented. Other holidays and paid days off for workers in 2026 include New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (1 day, with a compensatory day off if it coincides with a weekend), Victory Day on April 30 (1 day), International Workers' Day on May 1 (1 day), National Day (2 days), and Vietnam Culture Day (1 day).
