Qinghai, China - July 8, 2026 - The Ministry of Culture and Tourism launched the 2026 National Summer Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season in Qinghai, marking the beginning of a nationwide surge in cultural and tourism spending. This event, which runs from early July to the end of August, aims to stimulate the tourism market by coordinating efforts across multiple sectors and platforms.
The launch event saw various departments and industry platforms announce a range of summer tourism services and consumer benefits. The General Administration of Sport introduced a catalog of youth sports events for summer travel, promoting a deep integration of sports and tourism. Additionally, the Civil Aviation Administration of China released a travel support plan to enhance travel safety and convenience for tourists.
To further assist consumers, the China Meteorological Administration published a national summer cooling map and stargazing guide, providing valuable resources for those looking to escape the heat and explore the night sky.
This summer, major payment, travel, and entertainment platforms are ramping up consumer subsidies. Localities are focusing on popular summer activities such as coastal vacations, night economies, family educational trips, traditional cuisine, and museum visits, thereby expanding the supply of high-quality cultural and tourism products. Throughout the season, over 30,000 cultural and tourism-themed events are planned, with a total of more than 450 million yuan in consumer subsidies allocated to stimulate spending.
As the host province for this main event, Qinghai is capitalizing on its unique cultural tourism offerings, themed around "Summer in Qinghai to See Snowy Mountains." The province has launched a series of distinctive tourism products and benefits, including 16 themed routes, five premium self-driving routes, and four scenic routes along the clear Yellow River. A promotional campaign called "Qinghai Family Feast" is also underway, along with the distribution of 20 million yuan in cultural and tourism consumption vouchers covering various aspects such as tickets, accommodation, travel routes, and transportation.
The National Summer Cultural and Tourism Consumption Season aims to enhance the quality of life for citizens, enrich their cultural experiences during the summer, and promote the upgrading of the cultural tourism industry, ensuring that visitors enjoy high-quality summer journeys.
