Vietnamese Police Deploy to Assist Earthquake Relief in Venezuela
A team of 41 members from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security has been dispatched to Venezuela to aid

On July 11, 2026, a Vietnamese rescue team comprising 124 members from the military and police returned home after completing a 12-day mission in Venezuela, where they aided in the recovery efforts following a severe earthquake that struck on June 24.
The team was welcomed back at Noi Bai International Airport by senior officials, including Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Van Hien and Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Van Tuyen. They were joined by representatives from the Venezuelan embassy in Vietnam, who expressed gratitude for the team's efforts.
During their time in Venezuela, the Vietnamese team worked tirelessly alongside local authorities to locate and assist victims of the earthquake. They successfully recovered 57 bodies from collapsed buildings and identified additional locations where victims were believed to be trapped.
In addition to search and recovery operations, the team set up emergency medical stations to provide treatment and care for local residents affected by the disaster. They also engaged in community support activities, including distributing essential goods and raising funds for the local population and rescue workers.
This mission marked the third time Vietnam has deployed its forces abroad for humanitarian assistance and disaster relief. Previous missions included support efforts in Turkey and Myanmar following earthquakes in 2023 and 2025.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions, the Venezuelan government awarded the team with the "Hero of Venezuela" medals and commendations for their dedicated service. The Vietnamese team received high praise for their professionalism and commitment to aiding those in need during this challenging time.
The successful completion of this mission underscores Vietnam's commitment to international humanitarian efforts and disaster response, showcasing the nation's readiness to assist in global crises.
