Significant Price Drops for Popular B-Segment Sedans in Vietnam

The automotive market in Vietnam is witnessing a remarkable trend as popular B-segment sedans such as the Toyota Vios, Hyundai Accent, and Honda City have significantly reduced their prices. This strategic move is a response to a notable decline in consumer demand for these vehicles.

Hyundai Accent, for instance, is currently offering discounts of up to 89 million VND for July 2026. This marks a historic moment as it is the first time a B-segment sedan in Vietnam has offered discounts nearing 100 million VND. As a result, the Hyundai Accent is now priced lower than A-segment cars like the Hyundai Grand i10, providing substantial savings for consumers.

Similarly, the Toyota Vios, despite its popularity, has also seen considerable price cuts. The Japanese manufacturer has increased customer incentives, offering a reduction of up to 100% on registration fees, translating to savings between 46 and 54.5 million VND for buyers of the three Vios variants. Honda City has followed suit, also providing a 100% discount on registration fees, allowing customers to save up to 56 million VND.

After these discounts, the prices of these B-segment sedans are now even lower than those of A-segment vehicles. For example, the Hyundai Accent 1.5 MT is priced at just 350 million VND, while the Honda City G costs 450 million VND, and the Toyota Vios is around 410 million VND. In contrast, the KIA Morning GT-Line requires an expenditure of 469 million VND, and the Hyundai Grand i10 ranges from 435 to 455 million VND.

This drastic price reduction can be attributed to changing consumer preferences in Vietnam. For over two decades, B-segment sedans have been the most accessible option for Vietnamese consumers. The Toyota Vios, Honda City, and Hyundai Accent have consistently ranked as the best-selling models, favored not only by individual buyers but also by taxi services due to their spacious interiors, fuel efficiency, and adequate features.

However, as consumer tastes evolve, there is a noticeable shift towards SUVs, CUVs, and pickup trucks, leading to a decrease in the demand for B-segment sedans. To avoid excess inventory and stimulate sales, manufacturers have found it necessary to implement significant price reductions. This situation ultimately benefits consumers, allowing them to save on purchasing costs.

Additionally, the motorcycle market is also experiencing a downward trend in prices due to a sustained decline in demand for motorcycles.
