Lottery for Affordable Housing in Hanoi at 18.4 Million VND/m2

Lottery for Affordable Housing in Hanoi at 18.4 Million VND/m2

On July 4, the CT3 Kim Chung affordable housing project in Hanoi conducted an online lottery for the right to purchase, rent, or lease housing units. This initiative was organized by a consortium of the Hanoi Investment and Housing Development Corporation and Viglacera Corporation. The housing units range in size from approximately 50 to 64 square meters, with a tentative selling price of 18.4 million VND per square meter, including VAT and maintenance fees. This translates to total prices for the apartments ranging from 916 million VND to 1.2 billion VND, depending on the unit's size.

One of the lucky winners, Bich Dao, a worker at the Bac Thang Long Industrial Park, shared her joy after winning the right to purchase an apartment. She expressed that her family had long desired to own a home, and this opportunity was a significant milestone for them. "As someone from a low-income urban background, being able to buy an affordable housing unit means a lot to my family. When I received the notification of winning the lottery, I was overwhelmed with emotion. After nearly a year of preparing documents and waiting, I finally achieved this dream," said Dao.

In addition to the lottery, the Ho Chi Minh City government has approved a plan to clear over 1,600 households for a 12.7 trillion VND urban development project. This project aims to upgrade the Song Tan pond and the Ong Lon river area, affecting approximately 1,600 families living in the vicinity.

Moreover, the rise of electric vehicles has posed challenges for rental housing in Hanoi, as many landlords are hesitant to allow tenants to charge their electric vehicles on the premises due to safety concerns. The Ministry of Construction has acknowledged this issue and is currently working on establishing safety regulations for electric vehicle charging in residential areas.

Overall, the lottery event signifies a step forward in providing affordable housing options for residents in Hanoi, addressing the pressing need for accessible housing solutions in urban areas.
