Authorities in Vietnam have issued a warning for 21 coastal provinces, from Quang Ninh to An Giang, to proactively respond to a low-pressure area near the East Sea that has the potential to intensify into a tropical depression. This advisory comes from the National Civil Defense Steering Committee, which has communicated the need for vigilance and preparedness in light of the forecasted weather conditions.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has reported that a low-pressure system is currently forming in the central Philippines and is expected to move into the East Sea, where it could develop into a tropical depression. The forecast indicates that from the night of June 30 to July 1, strong winds of 5-6 on the Beaufort scale, with gusts reaching 7-8, are likely in the waters from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau, as well as in the eastern areas of the South China Sea, including the waters surrounding the Spratly Islands.
In response, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee has recommended that local authorities closely monitor updates from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting regarding the low-pressure area and its potential development. They are advised to inform ship captains and vessel operators in the sea to ensure they take necessary precautions and adjust their operations accordingly to safeguard lives and property.
Additionally, local governments are urged to be ready with personnel and equipment to carry out rescue and relief operations if necessary. Continuous communication and reporting to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee are essential to address any adverse situations that may arise.
As the situation develops, the public is encouraged to stay informed through official weather updates and to heed any warnings issued by local authorities.
