Grand Theft Auto VI Officially Priced at $80

Rockstar Games has officially revealed the pricing for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), setting the standard edition at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100. This announcement comes amidst various rumors regarding the game's production costs, which are speculated to be the highest in gaming history, estimated between $1 billion to $1.5 billion.

Pre-orders for GTA VI will begin at midnight on June 25, 2026, depending on the local time and country. The game will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it will be sold both physically and digitally. However, the physical version will only include a download code and will not come with a disc. Physical copies are expected to be shipped starting November 12, allowing players to download the game in time for its official release on November 19, 2026.

For those who pre-order or purchase GTA VI before November 20, 2026, a special Vintage Vice City package will be included. This package features nostalgic items reminiscent of the 2002 GTA: Vice City, such as a ’55 Vapid Stanier vehicle, a garage in Ocean Beach, clothing, hairstyles, and weapon skins styled after the 1980s. Additionally, digital pre-order customers will receive a one-month subscription to GTA Plus, which offers virtual currency, special vehicles, free outfits, and various perks in GTA Online.

The Ultimate Edition, priced at $100, includes unlockable content related to the storyline, such as vehicles, weapons, outfits, tattoos, and access to exclusive in-game stores.

Despite the high production costs, the official price of GTA VI is in line with other recent blockbuster games, which have seen price increases over the past year. Some Nintendo Switch 2 titles are currently priced at $70 or $80. The game is set to release more than 13 years after its predecessor, GTA V, which was launched on September 17, 2013.

Rockstar has postponed the game's release date several times, initially planned for fall 2025, then moved to May 26, and finally to November 19, 2026. The gaming community anticipates that GTA VI will be one of the biggest gaming events of the year, prompting other game developers to adjust their release schedules to avoid competition.

In a job listing from 2025, Rockstar described GTA VI as the "biggest game launch event in history." Information about the game has been released gradually, with the official cover art and trailers revealing the main characters, Jason and Lucia, along with snippets of the storyline set in Vice City.
