In recent years, Father Nguyen Xuan Phuong has made a remarkable impact in his community by embodying his faith through concrete actions. Based in Dong Lam Parish, Nghệ An province, he has been at the forefront of charitable initiatives aimed at helping the less fortunate.

Since becoming a priest in 2008, Father Phuong has engaged in various philanthropic activities. His commitment to serving those in need led him to establish a charity ambulance service in 2019 while he was managing the Lam Xuyen Parish. Witnessing the struggles of patients who lacked transportation to medical facilities deeply moved him. "Seeing sick individuals unable to access treatment made me feel compelled to do something to help," he shared.

Father Phuong not only initiated the service but also took on the role of driver for the first trip. He recalls transporting a mother and her child from Vinh City to Ky Son, a journey of over 300 kilometers. "I personally drove the first trip, bringing joy to those in need despite the long and tiring journey," he said. The charity ambulance has since become a lifeline for many, providing free transportation to those who cannot afford it.

Over the past seven years, the "no-cost" ambulance service has facilitated thousands of rides for individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of their faith. In 2023, after relocating to Dong Lam Parish, Father Phuong continued this mission, forming a volunteer group to manage the service. Notably, many volunteers are from the local community, including those who do not share his faith, reflecting the universal compassion that transcends religious boundaries.

In addition to the ambulance service, Father Phuong and his parishioners have contributed significantly to the community by providing rice to the poor, building homes for those in need, and assisting elderly individuals with cataract surgeries. These efforts are carried out quietly, without discrimination based on wealth or religion, showcasing a commitment to humanity and social solidarity.

From heartfelt prayers in the church to the free ambulance rides and the construction of meaningful homes, Father Phuong's work is rooted in a deep love for humanity. His actions contribute to building a compassionate and united society, demonstrating that kindness knows no boundaries.
