The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has provided clarity on the regulations concerning additional tutoring for the VioEdu math competition outside of school. This response comes amid growing inquiries from teachers about the legality of participating in such tutoring programs.

Mai Hùng Cường, a math teacher from Đắk Lắk, raised a pertinent question regarding his involvement in tutoring students for the VioEdu competition. He expressed concerns about whether his participation in a registered tutoring business to prepare students from grades 1 to 9 for VioEdu would violate the regulations outlined in Circular No. 29/2024/TT-BGDĐT.

The Ministry's response emphasized the importance of determining whether the VioEdu tutoring activities fall under the definition of "additional tutoring" as per the regulations. If the activities are deemed to be within the scope of the regulations, then any organization or participation in teaching, including instructing students who are also his regular students, must comply with the stipulations set forth in the circular.

Conversely, if the tutoring does not fall under the regulatory framework, then it will be subject to other relevant legal provisions. This clarification aims to provide guidance to educators and ensure compliance with educational standards while addressing the needs of students and parents seeking additional support for competitive examinations.

As the demand for VioEdu preparation grows, the Ministry's guidelines will play a crucial role in shaping how teachers can engage in supplementary education without breaching legal boundaries.
