Mountain oranges enter harvest season in central Vietnam
The distinctive fruits are a good source of income for residents in the mountainous commune of Gary
Hope Farm in Thung Cha, Hoa Binh province has officially launched the sales of their Hope oranges or also known as organic Bóc oranges with a price of 100,000VND/kg for this year's harvest. This is a higher price compared to previous years, around 10,000-20,000VND/kg.
According to the sales staff at Hope Farm, the reason for the higher price of Hope oranges this year is due to lower yield than expected. This year, the prolonged hot weather and abnormal rains have had no small impact on crop yields. With reduced supply but increased demand, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers are hunting for Hope oranges more. Therefore, the orange price this year increased about 20% compared to the same period last year.
At Thung Cha Organic Farm, all planting and cultivation processes of Hope oranges are implemented according to Global GAP organic standards and Vinacontrol certification. In particular, the Hope orange orchard is planted in natural forests in the Thung Cha Valley, nestled against the majestic limestone cliffs, with cool climate. This is an advantage that helps the trees bear fresh and nutritious fruit.
The water source for irrigation is entirely from mountain stream caves with large depths, crystal clear water without pollution. This is also a key factor in creating the intense, fragrant and uniquely delicious flavor of Hope oranges compared to other orange varieties in the market. Hope oranges are renowned as the exclusive specialty orange only from Hope Farm in Thung Cha.
